Cotto - Margarito II: There Will Be Blood

As a boxing fan who likes to see fighters give out their all in the ring, almost dying, bloodied and beaten to a pulp even in victory. Such as the case of Antonio Margarito in his first fight against Miguel Cotto, which has now been accompanied by a giant asterisk, lingering on the suspicion of coming into their first fight with a loaded wrap. I expect nothing less than another classic fight today.

Classic, which if said in boxing lingo, means a brutal and violent display of brute warrior trait. Something that exposes man's appetite for violence. A sad fact really. But boxing is a sport not to be taken by everyone. However, one irony of it all was, to many fighters, Boxing has in fact saved them from a delinquent path in the past.

Where would Manny Pacquiao be if it weren't for boxing? Bernard Hopkins would probably commit another crime and go back to jail if he didn't learned the discipline boxing taught after his release from his short incarceration early in his life. I have high respect for boxers, because as ruthless and fearless they portray themselves inside the ring, all those bravado and spite for their opponents are replaced by a mutual respect after every fight.

The late "Smokin" Joe Frazier became one half of the most popular rivalry in boxing together with Muhammad Ali, they fought three brawls together including the "Thrilla in Manila" which Ali would later describe as "the closest thing to dying". In spite of the trash talking building up into the fight, Ali and Frazier would be forever weaved together by these three fights that has them dishing out not punishments to each other, but by getting out the best of them and in doing so had the world admiring their courage and fighting heart. As boxing does not only represent the type of sport it is, it projects more than the average resolve of men, who in this world are filled with people looking for such moving example, whether inside or outside the ring.

Margarito will climb into the ring tonight (New York time) without any suspicion of a loaded wraps but is driven to erase doubts that his previous victories aren't tainted and is intent on letting out a giant beating on Miguel Cotto, to prove that the "Tijuana Tornado" does not need plaster of Paris in his hand wraps to beat him again.

Miguel Cotto, meanwhile is not only out to exact revenge on his first loss as a professional boxer, he is also had the added fuel and burning fire to put Margarito into his rightful place as he believes that he cheated in their first fight and only a brutal beatdown will satisfy that hunger for revenge.

Expect no less than a boxing glove patting session, no one will back away nor fight in a defensive stance, no men will quit, but both men will give everything they've got in the ring. Expect nothing but blood to flow out of Madison Square Garden in New York, the "Mecca of Boxing" will experience a brutal slug-fest that will surely have viewers asking themselves "whats the point of" such sport, but will also admire the kind of courage that will be on display tonight.
